Territorial park campgrounds are open again for the 2021 season.

For NWT residents, getting outside and enjoying our spectacular NWT parks and campgrounds is a healthy and safe activity during the COVID-19 pandemic. So, get outside, visit our campgrounds and take advantage of all they have to offer.

(For out-of-territory travellers, please be aware that leisure travel is currently not permitted within the NWT. Out-of-territory residents should not plan a trip to visit NWT territorial parks this summer.)

For updated information regarding NWT parks visit the NWT Parks Website.

If you are an NWT resident and you plan to go camping in territorial parks, here are some things to be aware of to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

  • You cannot isolate or self-isolate in a territorial campground.
  • Follow the advice of the NWT’s Chief Public Health Officer. Stay home if you are sick or if you have any symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Wash your hands frequently, cover your coughs or sneezes with your elbow or a tissue and stay two metres or six feet apart from others.
  • If it’s hard to keep two metres or six feet apart from others, please wear a mask and make sure to wash and change your mask often.
  • Book your campsites online if you can. If you must book in person, please be advised gatehouse operators may limit or restrict visitor access into the building. All visitors should stand back at least two metres (six feet) from the gatehouse doorway and wait for the operator to assist them.
  • Visitors are asked to clean park surfaces (picnic tables, etc.) before and after use. Campground contractors will be performing regular cleanings of campsites between visitors.
  • All visitors should come prepared with a personal cleaning kit to enhance their individual health and safety while in our territorial parks and campgrounds. Bringing hand sanitizer and a wash basin for frequent hand washing; disinfectant cleaner for sanitizing shared surfaces (picnic tables); and a table cloth are good ideas.
