On February 5th, Fort Good Hope played host to a small tourism workshop that focused on ideas that will move the community forward in tourism.
The workshop was geared towards Indigenous cultural tourism, but also covered foundational topics for building successful tourism businesses.
The goal was to have conversations on what tourists want and what type of things the community needs to best welcome and serve tourists
It was also an opportunity for community members to take part in constructive conversations that will help create a strategic plan for the community to make Tourism the economic driver for Fort Good Hope.
Kacee Hunter, Regional Tourism Officer said, “The interest and turnout was good, indicating a strong curiosity in turning Fort Good Hope into a tourist destination.”
With training, support and skills development for service providers in the tourism sector, the GNWT is working to advance excellence in the Northwest Territories’ tourism industry.
