Industry, Tourism and Investment Minister Nokleby shared a message for NWT businesses this week, addressing the challenges businesses are facing though the COVID-19 crisis and reaffirming the GNWT’s support.
“Many of you have spent most of your careers building your businesses and the effects of COVID-19 has very quickly had a large impact on your lives and of the people you employ,” the Minister stated.
“I want to recognize that all NWT businesses small and large are making difficult and selfless decisions to do what is being asked of you to limit the spread of COVID-19.”
The Minister applauded business owners who are finding unique and creative ways to keep companies afloat and staff employed, promising that the GNWT “will continue to seek out, identify and facilitate ways to support your efforts and address your challenges.”
As businesses around the world are feeling the impacts of the pandemic, the Minister assured northerners that the GNWT and Federal Government are behind them.
“We are committed to finding ways to ensure that our economy is prepared with the tools it needs to rebuild once it is safe to do so. If you are watching this video and are feeling the economic impacts of this crisis, I encourage you to be active and diligent in seeking out the supports that you need and following through on the process required.”
