Juniper-infused northern pike, wild rose hip BBQ sauce and fried morels on bannock; just a few of the locally-sourced dishes that are being served up on the new online show Wild Kitchen which debuted in January.

Viewers can follow the Northwest Territories (NWT) cast and crew as they forage through Mother Nature’s NWT pantry to create mouth-watering menus.

There is a strong and growing appetite for the NWT-based television and digital media project. To date, the show’s three episodes have received between 3,000 – 18,000 views each. In February, Wild Kitchen Producer and Director, Caroline Cox attended the Story Summit in Banff where she met with the CEO of Rheo TV who expressed interest in testing the show on their site in April 2017. The show will also be screened at an industry event in Toronto later this month. Visit www.wildkitchen.net to learn more.

The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment’s (ITI) Film Commission was pleased to provide funding support to make the project a reality. Media projects like Wild Kitchen are helping to build the capacity of our NWT film industry workforce a while also raising awareness to the North as a travel destination. Both are stated objectives of the NWT’s Film Strategy.

The NWT Film Commission is a division of ITI and acts as a liaison for industry professionals, service providers, communities, production companies and the GNWT. Learn more at www.nwtfilm.com.
