A Northwest Territories delegation is in Whistler, BC this week, but hitting the slopes is the last thing on their minds.

The NWT Film Commission is at the 2016 Whistler Film Festival and Summit this week to help build NWT film's profile.

Film Commissioner Camilla MacEachern is on-hand to take meetings, network, and market the spectacular locations and talent of the NWT.

Rounding out the NWT delegation are Amos Scott and Kirsten Carthew, producer and director respectively of the made-in-the-NWT feature The Sun at Midnight.

The Sun at Midnight will be making its Western Premiere and screening at the festival. The film has been selected to compete in a special category, The Borsos Competition, for best Canadian Feature. Stars Duane Howard and Devery Jacobs will be there promoting the film — the first local production to receive NWT film rebate funding.

In addition to the film's premiere, Scott was invited to the festival as a participant in the Aboriginal Filmmaker Fellowship —  a program facilitating feedback from a group of well-respected mentors on short film projects produced by Aboriginal talent.
