The interests of Northwest Territories mining are well-represented this week at the international industry’s biggest show.

The Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) annual conference and tradeshow is running March 5-8 in Toronto, and staff and officials from the Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) are on hand to represent and to pitch the NWT’s mining environment to potential investors.

Throughout the week, Department officials will meet with key industry leaders. They will highlight the social equity of investing in the NWT, its world-class mineral potential, and entrenched government and public support for advancing new mining projects.

A comprehensive “Invest NWT” spotlight will be held on Tuesday in partnership with the NWT Chamber of Mines. The event will bring together the shared experiences of nine mining and exploration companies currently working in the NWT, presentations on geoscience services, infrastructure developments and government supports and a key networking session.

The GNWT’s attendance at PDAC reflects its ongoing mandate to implement the Mineral Development Strategy and to invest in ways to increase the NWT’s competitiveness within global and national resource markets.

The trip comes on the heels of a successful trip to AME Roundup in Vancouver, BC — another event at which the GNWT’s marketing and promotion efforts worked to position the NWT as an attractive environment to invest in mineral development.
