Minister Wally Schumann tabled the NWT Oil and Gas Annual Report today in the Legislature.
The annual report documents activity in the NWT’s oil and gas sector in 2017.
Notably, six new Significant Discovery Licences were issued in the Sahtu Region last year; a move indicative of continued confidence in the North even as companies re-examine their projects to find new and more efficient ways to operate in the future.
The report also highlights government activities impacting the oil and gas sector. In 2017, these included initiatives like the finalized Petroleum Resources Strategy, petroleum legislative review, and the introduction of the Resources and Energy Development Information (REDI) initiative.
