The first-ever Northwest Territories (NWT)-made film to receive funding under the Government of the Northwest Territories' (GNWT) Film Rebate Program premiered in the Beaufort Delta over the weekend.

The Sun at Midnight — a feature-length film produced by Kirsten Carthew and Amos Scott's Jill & Jackfish Productions and starring The Revenant's Duane Howard and award-winning actress Devery Jacobs — received a special public screening in Fort McPherson.

It was hosted by the Gwich’in Tribal Council - Department of Cultural Heritage (GTC-DCH) with funding provided by the GNWT's Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) on September 25.

The film will receive its Yellowknife premiere on October 1 during the Yellowknife International Film Festival (YKIFF).

Funding for the film was provided through the Department of ITI's NWT Film Commission as part of the GNWT's mandate to support local film productions with funding for below-the-lines skill development, production costs, and marketing.
