Staff of the newly amalgamated Diamonds, Royalties and Financial Analysis (DRFA) division of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) took a tour of the new Almod Diamond Manufacturing Facility in Yellowknife this week.

The Department of ITI was realigned in December 2016 to create the new division, which brings the Department’s two diamond-focused units together.  Formerly the Diamond Secondary Industry and Financial Analysis and Royalty Administration, the move to combine these units will increase coordination and improve efficiencies in the administration of royalties and the support for the diamond secondary industry.

This week, Miles Welsh and Lorraine Gagnon, of DRFA observed the progress being made at the Almod Diamond Manufacturing Facility. The company, which is on track to open the facility in the first half of 2017, has already hired two NWT residents to assist in their set up, which this week included assembling the diamond cutting stations (pictured).
