It will be hard to miss the Northwest Territories (NWT) at the trade show of this year’s Mineral Exploration Roundup Conference January 23-26 in Vancouver.
Delegates from Aboriginal governments in the Dehcho, Sahtu, Tlicho and Inuvialuit Regions will be promoting their regions as prime destinations for resource exploration and mining; exhibiting alongside booths sponsored by the Northwest Territories Geological Survey and the Departments of Industry, Tourism and Investment and Transportation and the NWT/NU Chamber of Mines.
In 2016, the GNWT partnered successfully with the Sahtu Region at the Mineral Exploration Roundup to profile the Sahtu as a destination for resource exploration, mining and business opportunities. This year’s multi-partnered presence will build on this model and confirms the the ongoing spirit of cooperation and collaboration that exists to realize the benefits of mineral exploration and development for in the NWT.
Members of the GNWT’s Cabinet will further enhance the NWT presence on Tuesday as they make themselves available at the trade show to discuss and promote investment in the NWT’s mining sector.
The mining sector as the primary driver of the NWT economy The Department of ITI is working with Aboriginal governments and the NWT/Nunavut Chamber of Mines to provide support for attendance, materials and networking opportunities at this year’s event.
This collaboration highlights the work that is being completed to enhance Aboriginal and community engagement as identified in the GNWT’s Mineral Development Strategy and the 2016-2019 GNWT Mandate.
