Overview
The Hide and Fur Program (HFP) is an arts program that provides NWT artist access to affordable hide and fur materials to make fine craft products that support self-sufficient economic development opportunities. This includes materials such as:
• NWT Ringed Seal (natural and dyed),
• NWT Muskox hide
• NWT Polar Bears
• Beaver (sheared and long-hair),
• Harp Seal (natural and dyed),
• Fox (arctic, blue, red, silver and cross)
• Muskrat
• And more

What is the benefit?
The HFP provides access to high-quality hide and fur materials that artists need to create their fine craft products, helping them gain a higher profit margin on the sale of their finished product. The HFP supplies approved distributors around the NWT with these materials at wholesale prices with no markup, ensuring artists across the NWT have access to these materials through the HFP. ITI works with the Department of Environment and Climate Change (ECC) to access NWT sourced materials for the HFP, such as ringed seal pelts, muskox hides, and polar bear hides, and hopes to provide more NWT sourced materials in the future.
