Overview
The Medium Arts Project Grant provides $5,001 to $15,000 in funding for medium-scale arts projects and events.
This grant supports a wide range of arts activities, including creation, production, presentation, training and artistic development in the following disciplines:
- Dance
- Digital art
- Fashion
- Literary arts
- Film and media arts
- Multidisciplinary art
- Music and sound
- Theatre arts
- Visual arts and crafts
- Other
Available funding
Applicants can apply for between $5,001 and $15,000 per project.
The Medium Arts Grant is a high competition funding program.
- For smaller projects by new artists, consider applying for the Small Arts Project Grant.
- For larger projects led by organizations, consider the Large Arts Project Fund.
Deadline
There are three intake deadlines per year. The next deadline is April 14.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be a resident of the NWT for at least 6 months prior to applying and living in the NWT at the time of application
- Have completed and reported on at least one project funded by the Small Arts Project Grant
Applying organizations must meet all of the following:
- Be registered with NWT Corporate Registries and in good standing with a mandate to support the arts
- Provide opportunities for education, creation and exhibition for the arts in the NWT
- Not receiving funding from the Large Arts Project Fund or Arts Operating Fund in the same fiscal year for the same purpose
Preference will be given to applications that use NWT resources and services.
How to apply
- Before you apply, review the application guidelines.
- Download and complete the Medium Arts Project Grant application form.
- Prepare your supporting documents:
- Samples of work (1-2 sound/video clips of 5 minutes or less, 1-2 writing samples of 5 pages or less, or up to 10 photographs).
- Two signed letters of support.
- Artistic resume or organization background.
- Copies of quotes (NWT quotes encouraged).
- Submit your completed application and supporting documents before the deadline.

Applicants are notified of results within 60 days of the deadline. If declined, you will receive feedback and be asked to apply again in the next intake.
Applications must be approved before beginning the activity. Costs incurred before approval will not be covered.
This program has a reporting requirement. You must provide financial reporting within 60 days of completing the project, including your actual costs and revenues and the reporting survey.
