The Department of ITI has released the 2022 Engagement on Resource Royalties What We Heard Report.

“It’s time to change the narrative around the NWT’s competitiveness” Minister Wawzonek told delegates at AME Round Up in Vancouver yesterday, noting that staked claims were no longer a sole indicator of a region’s competitiveness.

The GNWT is returning, in person, to AME’s Round Up in Vancouver next week following two years of virtual attendance.

Is it possible to develop a remediation economy in the Northwest Territories in the next 30 years?  As the Government of the Northwest Territories ponders ways to grow and diversify the NWT economy, it’s a question ITI is working to answer. 

An online survey has been launched to help determine if – and how – the existence of a viable remediation economy can benefit NWT residents and businesses. NWT residents and business owners are encouraged to complete surveys now available on the GNWT’s Have Your Say engagement platform.

Revisions to the Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) will make it easier for foreign-owned businesses operating within the NWT to access workers for their businesses.

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) is working to put Regional Economic Development Plans (REDPs) in place to encourage and guide economic growth in in varying sectors across the Northwest Territories.

Before formal drafting begins on the regulations for the NWT Mineral Resources Act, NWT residents are being invited to provide specific input and feedback on the policy intentions that are being considered for the regulations.
