Renewed exploration activity is needed to restore levels of investment, partnership, employment and growth in the NWT’s economy.
Thursday’s announcement of additional funding for advanced mineral exploration is key to the GNWT’s commitment to attract and support both early-stage and advanced exploration projects to the NWT.
The increased funding is being delivered under the GNWT’s Mining Incentive Program (MIP) introduced in 2014 to help increase levels of mineral exploration in the NWT.
Administered by ITI’s Northwest Territories Geological Survey (NTGS), the MIP provides funding to prospectors and companies proposing or completing mineral exploration in the NWT.
Here’s a breakdown of the incentive program by its numbers:
Funding recipients that credit the MIP as contributing to discoveries include Gold Terra, DEMCo, Evrim Resources, StrategX Elements, North Arrow Minerals, 60 North Gold.
