Hay River’s annual Hay Days Festival is in the books for another year – and by all accounts another huge success.
The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment’s South Slave Regional Office is a proud returning-sponsor of the annual showcase of music, art and culture.
This year, there really was something for everyone. Workshops were offered during the day and music in the evenings. Children took part in many of the workshops that included dance, music, art and theater. Popular adult workshops, this year, ranged from an introduction to the fiddle to working with stained glass and creating porcupine quill earrings.
Thursday’s family friendly music night at the museum kicked off a weekend of musical experiences – which included local licensed venues on Friday and the territorial beach park on Saturday. The Hay Days format meant, not only the headliners but, locals took to the stage to celebrate Hay River talent, fun and community.
ITI supports Hay Days under its SEED Community Economic Development program; recognizing its contribution to increased tourism and economic opportunities for local entrepreneurs, artists and businesses in the region.
