From workshops and a street festival, to musical evenings and a beach party, Hay River is the place to be during the annual Hay Days Festival. Locals and tourists alike can still enjoy this year’s festivities, which wrap up after a full schedule on Saturday, July 7.
Visit haydaysfestival.com for a schedule of events and more information.
Earlier this week, children, youth and adults had the chance to learn about film making, music and arts and crafts during a series of workshops as part of the festivities.
On Friday festival-goers can visit the Street Fest & Art Attack at the Recreation Centre to interact with art vendors and enjoy live music and cultural performances. The Music Hop, open to adults, features live music at Back Eddy’s, the Doghouse and the Royal Canadian Legion.
Saturday get to the beach for a family-friendly BBQ sponsored by the Hay River Elks Club; once there enjoy art and craft vendors, live music, along with activities and entertainment for families.
To close the Festival don’t miss out on the Saturday Night Shaker which runs from 8pm until 2am at the Beach Site and will feature food trucks, more live music, and a free shuttle sponsored by Carter Industries. The Saturday Night Shaker is a licensed event and is for adults only.
Community-driven events like Hay Days help to build opportunities for local businesses, tourism, and the arts and crafts sector. The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment is proud to sponsor Hay Days through our Support for Entrepreneurs and Economic Development (SEED) program, the loaning of a stage through our South Slave Tourism and Parks Office, and marketing and venue costs.
