For Ulukhaktok’s David Kuptana, navigating the land is in his blood.
His father was a polar bear hunter and worked as a guide for those with the gumption to give the northern hunt a shot. David grew to love hunting and mastered the art with his father’s help. He would later follow in his footsteps and began guiding for a wilderness outfitting company —using the skills he gained on-the-land to share his land with visitors from all over the world.

The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment was recognized this week for its ongoing support of the Mining Matters Program. The industry-sponsored program, dedicated to delivering education on geoscience and mining to students in Grades 4-12, was presented in three regions this year by the Department’s Client Services and Community Relations Unit (CSCR).
The second Resources and Energy Development Information (REDI) Tradeshow popped up in Hay River on November 9, 2017. Residents were invited to stop by, ask questions and have discussions with subject matter experts on several themes, including: alternative energy, mineral exploration and mining, petroleum exploration and development, geoscience, environment and natural resources, regulatory and enforcement, and Indigenous affairs.

On November 2, 2017 members of the Northwest Territories growing tourism industry gathered to celebrate their own. The NWT Tourism Gala and Awards were held in the Inuvik at the Midnight Sun Complex following the NWT Tourism AGM and showcased all that the territory has on offer.
