NWT Film takes over Spectacular Social Media

Keep your eyes locked on NWT Tourism’s social media accounts this week as NWT Film takes over the accounts with sights and stories from this week’s industry FAM tour.  

Familiarization or ‘FAM’ tours are a common method of marketing and promotion used by film commissions and tourism bureaus to bring external production companies into a jurisdiction in order to highlight its locations and features; and to showcase communities, events and characteristics that make it a world-class filming destination.

In the film sector, it is important to target decision makers, especially at the pre-production stage.  Five such decision makers are heading to Inuvik this week as guests of the NWT Film Commission. 

Travelling to Yellowknife, Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk will give the guest producers the opportunity to cross promote the NWT and profile its spectacular tourism opportunities.

Global film-industry specialist, Peter Wetherell of Magus Entertainment, Inc. will liaise with the participants.  A group consisting of The NWT Professional Media Association (NWTPMA), Hamlet of Tuktoyaktuk, and the City of Yellowknife came together to develop an itinerary highlighting some of the best experiences and locations for the guests to see.
