The week of April 7-11 is National Tourism Week. Learn more about the NWT tourism industry and discover opportunities and offerings in your community.
Tourism is one of the most exciting and growing sectors of our economy. Visitors spent $129 million in the Northwest Territories in 2023-2024. And that’s just direct spending and doesn’t include the ripple effects felt in every part of the community. Tourism creates jobs, supports local businesses, and helps share and celebrate our culture and way of life.
Visitors come for natural and cultural adventures, and while they are here, they eat, relax, shop and partake in all the entertainment that the community can offer.
During Tourism Week, the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is offering a range of displays, events and activities across the territory to rekindle the enterprising spirit of locals who want to take part in this ever-growing industry.
