Once again, Mining has contributed nearly $1 billion to the GDP? How does that affect the People who live in the NWT? The first, and perhaps most obvious, answer is jobs and training for NWT residents.
Feed the Garden Compost and Soil workshop was coordinated by Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI)’s Dehcho Regional Office Staff who have worked closely with the community of Fort Liard in Agriculture for many years beginning with the Growing Forward Projects, by assisting in establishing the Community Garden, and working with the students at the Echo-Dene School, the Acho Dene First Nation, Hamlet of Fort Liard, Elders and residents who were interested in learning more about Food Security.
The Government of the Northwest Territories is gathering public feedback on proposed amendments to the Territorial Parks Regulations (TPR).
The proposed changes address safety, environmental, administrative, and technical improvements that have been identified in the ongoing operation of NWT parks.
According to the NWT Bureau of Statistics, information released July 20, 2022 by Statistics Canada, at 75.7%, the Northwest Territories’ (NWT) July employment rate was the highest among provinces and territories in Canada (seasonally unadjusted). In the NWT, the employment rate increased 1.4 percentage points from last month, maintaining the higher employment rates observed in 2022.

From May 29 - June 4 Fort Simpson held a host of fun community events aimed at priming the Dehcho for a renewed influx of tourists.
