From astronomy and photography workshops to film and fashion showcases, the Naka Festival celebrates the combination of aurora borealis and northern culture through a variety of themed events hosted by community organizations and representatives.
Naka (pronounced Na-ke) is Wıı̀lıı̀deh for “Northern Lights”.
The month-long event (March 1-31) is sponsored by the City of Yellowknife along with the Yellowknives Dene First Nation, the North Slave Metis Alliance, NWT Tourism and the Government of the Northwest Territories.
