Federal, provincial and territorial ministers responsible for the northern regions of Canada made their way to Yellowknife for the annual Northern Development Ministers Forum. 

A public event in Fort Smith on January 7th marked the grand opening of the newest addition to Aurora College’s Thebacha Campus – the Centre for Mine and Industry Training (CMIT).

The GNWT’s energy vision took centre stage this week at the Arctic Energies and Emerging Technologies Conference in Inuvik. Residents of the capital flooded into the Katimavik Rooms at the Explorer Hotel for an opportunity to increase their understanding of resources and energy development in the NWT. It was the latest successful edition of the GNWT’s Resources and Energy Development Information (REDI) tradeshow in Yellowknife.

Minister Wally Schumann has tabled the GNWT’s Petroleum Resources Strategy. Alongside the Northwest Territories 2030 Energy Strategy and the NWT Climate Change Strategic Framework, it sets the foundation for how the GNWT will improve energy security, stabilize the cost of living and address the impacts of climate change with clear and positive actions.
