The Fur Institute of Canada sponsored its annual “Fur day on the Hill” event December 3rd in Ottawa.

The event, organized in partnership with the International Fur Federation, brought together trappers, hunters, farmers, scientists, industry professionals, designers, retailers, auction houses and others engaged in the trade from across the country and gave them an opportunity to meet with their Members of Parliament, Senators, Ministers and department officials to advocate on behalf of the fur industry. 

The NWT Manufacturers Association met in Yellowknife on November 26, 2018 to discuss the future of Made in the NWT products.

The Government of the Northwest Territories has amended its Diamond Policy Framework to take a new approach to realizing economic benefits from diamond manufacturing. We sat down with Tiffany Hall — the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment's Director of Diamonds, Royalties and Financial Analysis — to ask her five questions about the new approach.

Leaders in local economic development came from all corners of the NWT for two days of training, networking, and guest speakers this week in Yellowknife.

Workshops in Hay River and Yellowknife in November focused on Agricultural Safe Food Best Practices. These workshops were made possible by the GNWT’s participation in the Canadian Agricultural Partnership.
