The Northwest Territories (NWT) is home to some incredible hosts. During National Tourism Week (May 27 – June 1), locals nominated the best hosts in their communities for the many different ways they made visitors feel welcome – including greeting travellers at the airport, sharing language and culture, and giving tips on local attractions.
The 2018 48 Hour Music Video Competition wrapped up with an awards gala on June 5th. Presented by Western Arctic Moving Pictures (WAMP), the competition requires producers to draw from a list of participating bands and then work with the band for 48 hours to create a music video for judging.

A budding NWT filmmaker who first found success at a Yellowknife festival is heading to the national stage. Yellowknife-based filmmaker Keith Robertson’s debut short film Bait! is representing the North on this year’s edition of CBC Short Film Face-Off — a competition where nine films selected from hundreds of submissions from across Canada battle it out for a chance to be licensed for broadcast by the CBC.
