NWT Sound Editor Makes Mark on The Shape of Water

As the GNWT continues to build and invest in the NWT’s film sector in support of greater economic diversification and development, one of our own is already making waves on the big screen, most recently for his work on Academy Award winning film, The Shape of Water. Dashen Naidoo, was born and raised in Yellowknife and it was a long road filled with hard work that took him from the video room at St. Patrick’s High School to working on multi-million dollar red-carpet films.

Pests, Pathogens, and Invasive Species – Oh My!

The NWT’s first-ever symposium on pests, pathogens, and invasive species took place in Yellowknife April 9-13. NWT Dogs “Shame” Their Owners into Keeping Parks Clean

Almost everyone has seen a dog shaming video on YouTube, but dogs in the NWT are turning the tables — they love NWT parks so much, that they’re going to new lengths to ensure their owners keep them clean! It’s all part of a friendly effort from the department’s regional parks coordinators to encourage off-season parks users to chip in and get our parks ready as the snow and ice gives way to sun and sand.

Tulita Hosts First-Ever Tourism Conference

The hike to the pinnacle of Bear Rock will leave a person sweaty and sore but the view is well worth it. Below, the community of Tulita sprawls out, the water of the Great Bear and Mackenzie Rivers weave and rush, and hills and mountainsides dot the landscape as far as the eye can see. It’s a view people would pay for.
Giving visitors the opportunity to purchase this travel experience through boat and guided-hiking tours was just one of the ideas generated at Tulita’s first-ever Tourism Conference.
