As we look forward to the August long weekend, there are some things to keep in mind when heading to beaches such as the one at Fred Henne Territorial Park in Yellowknife.

Minister of ITI Katrina Nokleby and Cameron Beaverbones of the Tu Cho Fishers Cooperative confirmed their commitment today to the revitalization of the Great Slave Lake Fishing Industry.

If you’re stay-cationing in one of the NWT Territorial Parks in the Slave Region this summer, remember to keep an eye out for these wonderful collections of local art. 

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has released data it has gathered from a March 2020 survey of Tourism operators and a broader survey of NWT businesses in April/May.

Congratulations to One-of-Our-Own, Hendrik Falck, on receiving the Canadian Professional Geoscientist Award from Geoscientists Canada. 

In the end, $341,873 was provided to 110 different creative projects.  $225,445 was given to projects in the Yellowknife-area and $116,428 will be spent regionally.

Canada Day is synonymous with parades, BBQs and community gatherings, but it’s also a very special day for new Canadians across the country as they prepare for, or celebrate the anniversary of, their Canadian citizenship ceremonies. 

Developed by ITI’s Mineral and Petroleum Resources Division, the “NWT Walking Tour App” is available (free) from the App Store and Google Play store.  It was released as part of NWT Mining Week (June 21-27, 2020) which, this year took place entirely online.

Beach Attendants will be on duty at Fred Henne Territorial Park beach beginning Saturday, June 20th.  They will patrol the beach seven days a week from 9:30am – 8:30pm. A lifejacket loaner station is also available at the beach.
