ITI Recognized for Support of Mining Matters Educational Program

The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment was recognized this week for its ongoing support of the Mining Matters Program. The industry-sponsored program, dedicated to delivering education on geoscience and mining to students in Grades 4-12, was presented in three regions this year by the Department’s Client Services and Community Relations Unit (CSCR).

REDI Tradeshow Visits Hay River

The second Resources and Energy Development Information (REDI) Tradeshow popped up in Hay River on November 9, 2017. Residents were invited to stop by, ask questions and have discussions with subject matter experts on several themes, including: alternative energy, mineral exploration and mining, petroleum exploration and development, geoscience, environment and natural resources, regulatory and enforcement, and Indigenous affairs.

Engagement on new Manufacturing Strategy Makes Community Stops

Feedback from local manufacturers, industry, business, government and members of the public will play a crucial part in guiding the development of the NWT Manufacturing Strategy. Insightful discussions about manufacturing in the Northwest Territories have taken place in-person in Inuvik, Norman Wells, Fort Simpson, Fort Smith, and most recently, Hay River.

One of Our Own: NWT Film Intern, Alinar Dapilos

The best and brightest walked the red carpet at last week's NWT Film Gala, including Mikey McBryan, Kirstin Carthew, Jen Walden, Leela Gilday, and PJ Marcellino, to name a few. As the lights dimmed and footage flashed across the big screen, gala guests got the first glimpse of the new NWT Film brand. For NWT Film Intern, Alinar Dapilos, it was a bittersweet moment. He was across the Atlantic Ocean when the logo he had spent months helping to finess, made its public debut.
